Jammu, 21, June 2026: AIIMS Jammu celebrated the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation from faculty members, officers, staff, students, and residents. The event was organized in line with this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, virtually attended the programme and actively participated in the entire yoga session. Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma highlighted the growing significance of yoga in today’s fast-paced and stressful world. He emphasized that yoga is an effective means of achieving physical fitness, mental peace, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma further stated that yoga, an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition, has gained worldwide acceptance for its holistic benefits. Referring to the global recognition of yoga, he noted that the United Nations proclaimed 21 June as the International Day of Yoga, acknowledging its universal appeal and its role in fostering health, harmony, and sustainable living.

Encouraging everyone to adopt yoga as a way of life, Prof. (Dr.) D. N. Sharma urged participants to incorporate regular yoga practice into their daily routines to lead healthier, happier, and more productive lives.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the AIIMS Jammu fraternity and concluded with a renewed commitment to promote wellness, preventive healthcare, and holistic health through regular practice of yoga.
