Srinagar, December 18

The staff at a school in Srinagar has been harrassed and threatened by hooligans, who also vandalised the recently constructed boundary wall of the school.

The incident took place on Saturday when a group of unidentified hooligans forced their entry into the Government High School Sanat Nagar and harassed the staff including its female members, local residents said.

The assailants were armed with iron rods and misbehaved with the female staff members of the school. They later damaged a portion of the school’s boundary wall.

The local residents said the school’s ground had become a hideout for drug addicts, who misused its premises after work hours. The damaged boundary wall was recently built by the school authorities.

The staff later approached the higher authorities in the education department and also raised the issue with local police. However, no arrests have been made so far
