The campus of St. John’s Convent School, Mandal, was enveloped in the air of exuberance as the school organized an Annual Cultural cum Sports Day to celebrate the scholastic achievements of students as well as to provide them with a platform to add new feathers to their caps in various co-scholastic arenas. The event witnessed the presence of multitude of proud and elated young faces who enthusiastically proved their mettle in multiple domains and got rightfully rewarded in the extravagant ceremony.
The event was graced by the presence of Most Rev. Rt. Ivan Pereira, Bishop of Jammu-Srinagar Diocese who was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Rev. Fr. Antony Pepin, Chairman of Diocesan Education Society, Rev. Fr. Varkey, Rev. Fr. Jose Neelamkavil, Rev. Fr. Bijoo, Tehsildar Ravinder Kumar and Inspector M. A. Giri, SHO Mandal glorified the event as special vedettes.
The programme started with guard of honour to the Chief Guest escorted by School Cabinet Leaders. The Chief Guest gracefully took the salute for the spirited event. The poised salute was followed by the welcome address which was warmly accorded by Sr. Reeja SD, manager of the school.
Next, the House contingents rendered the spectators speechless and awestruck with a spectacular, impressive and a well synchronized March Past. Subsequently, students presented a dazzling display of a wide array of colourful and reverberant events such as yoga, races, drills
and various mesmerizing cultural performances.
The Principal of the school, Sr. Jenzy SD presented a brief report of the school’s activities and the outstanding achievements of the students in the previous academic year. Thereafter, the triumphs of meritorious students were acknowledged as well as applauded with a splendid award ceremony. Tehsildar Ravinder Kumar gave away the awards to estimable students while Bishop Ivan Pereira presented prestigious trophies to the leaders of two outshining school houses.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief guest, Rt. Rev. Ivan Pereira, lauded the achievers and hoped that such events will inspire more and more students to excel in curricular and co-curricular activities. Bishop also gave accolades to the principal, Sr. Jenzy SD for her constant endeavors in organizing different activities from time to time to ensure holistic growth and development of students.
In her formal address, Sr. Jenzy SD expressed deepest gratitude to dignitaries for the honour they had bestowed upon the school with their benign presence. She also praised the staff and management of the school for their unmatched contribution in the overall development of students which was well exhibited in the commendable performances of the students throughout the year.
The students stood tall proudly holding high their tokens of appreciation with dreams of ever bigger achievements in the following year. The event which was well coordinated by Rev. Sr. Anjali SD and Rev. Sr. Rose SD, drew to a close with the moving rendition of the National Anthem.
