JAMMU, December 21

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti  as asked her brother  Tassaduq Hussain Mufti to rush to Jammu following the return of his nomination to Legislative Council  by Governor N N Vohra on Thursday.

Vohra had listed a set of questions regarding the government’s stand on the eight nominations made to the Legislative Council  in 2015- one of whom  former Sadr-e-Riyasat’s Dr. Karan Singh ‘s  son Vikramditya Singh resigned last month-  and also wanted to know what were Tassaduq’s antecedents  for nomination to the Council.

Following the receipt of the paper with questions , Chief Minister has asked Tassaduq to rush to Jammu to be available for emergent consultations .  Tassaduq is in Mumbai at the moment.

The Raj Bhavan has asked the government whether the outcome of a writ petition challenging the MLC nominations made in 2015 would have any implication on the nomination of Tassaduq Mufti.

In 2015, the PDP-BJP government had nominated Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Vikramaditya Singh, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Khurshid Alam (all from the PDP) and Ashok Khajuria, Ramesh Arora, Ajatshatru Singh, and Surinder Mohan Ambardar (all from the BJP) as MLCs.

However, a writ petition was filed in the High Court challenging their nomination on different grounds.
