Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti seems to have reserved weekends for prayers at shrine for peace in Kashmir – today she was at Charar-e- Sharif shrine seeking peace and prosperity for the Valley that is yet to come out fully out of the shackles of the five-month-long unrest.
Immediately after her arrival here from Jammu, Mehbooba Mufti, drove to the revered shrine of Charar-e-Sharif where the tomb of much respected saint Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Wali is located.
Last Saturday, Mehbooba Mufti was at the shrine in Ajmer where she offered prayers and sought the renewed dawn of peace for her troubled Kashmir.
Kashmir Valley is witnessing unrest since July 8 .after the killing of Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen commander Burhan Wani , the traces of which are still visible in the occasional protests and shutdowns as directed by the separatists’ calendar.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by
Minister for Agriculture Hizb-ul-Mujahadeen , Vice chairman Wakf board Peer Mohammad Hussain, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Khan and top government officials.
Foreign mercenaries led by Pakistani militant Mast Gul burned down this shrine in May 1995 . Since then , it has been renovated.
