Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday set free All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq after 19 months .
He was taken into custody and kept under house arrest on the eve of August 5, 2019, when J&K was stripped of its special status and bifurcated into two Union territories.
The Mirwaiz will be leading Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid, Srinagar.
His release has been welcomed by all mainstream parties.
