Pakistan’s foreign policy on Kashmir has come under fire from within the establishment . It has been realised both by the Government and the opposition in Pakistan that their Kashmir policy is going nowhere .
In its own perspective , Pakistan’s sole game plan is focused on internationalising the Kashmir issue based on its unfounded hopes that it will create a global opinion in favour of its description of Kashmir . The meaning of Kashmir here is the Valley where 30-year-long militancy sponsored by Pakistan has been spelling miseries and troubles for the people living there.
For obvious reasons, Pakistan never talks of areas and the people of Jammu and Kashmir under its illegal occupation . Islamabad has thrown a blanket on what is happening in the occupied Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. Since the international community has already described the whole of Pakistan as a hub of terrorism . It exports terrorism and uses that as a foreign policy tool.
That’s the reason that the Pakistani propaganda on Kashmir and the alleged human rights violations by the Indian authorities and security forces has not been taken cognizance of by the world community whose first priority is to fight the pandemic caused by the novel Corona virus. Amidst all the fight against the pandemic, the world expects all the nations, including Pakistan to join the fight against the deadly disease and not to raise the superfluous issues.
Even the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation , the 57-member Muslim block, has not heard Pakistan seriously on Kashmir . It is primarily du to two reasons ; the OIC , like rest of the world , is seeking ways and means to defeat the pandemic and revive the normal life, of course, with the stand operating procedures . I knows that the widening of any conflict would be a bad situation and bad idea in overcoming the new challenges that have sprung up all across the globe.
The peace pact between the United Arab Emirates and Israel that was made public by the US President Donald Trump is in pursuance of peace and ending of the discord. The Accord has been called “ historic”. There is a peace dividend in sight.
In these circumstances, no country would have bothered to listen to Pakistan’s manufactured narrative about Jammu and Kashmir . The cold response from the world community has frustrated Pakistan . Its foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi lashed out at OIC and its prominent leader Saudi Arabia for what he called “ dragging feet on convening the OIC Foreign Ministers’ special session on Kashmir . He had also held out a threat- something that is considered most undiplomatic- that Pakistan would split the OIC and convene session on its own. Now it has been left to Pakistan army to repair the ties with Riyadh.
But within Pakistan , Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari lashed out at Qureshi for being obsessed with obsolete ideas on Kashmir . That may be interpreted as lack of imagination and failure of Pakistan to run its foreign policy . How could there be a scope for imagination as Pakistan is not having any clue how the relations with neighbours are conducted . In its scheme of things India is a hostile neighbour. Afghanistan should be under its thumb. It has its own issues with Iran . China is a good neighbour because Beijing controls most of Pakistan and its economy as a new imperialistic power in the world.
Kashmir is just an issue on which Pakistan wants to befool its own people. They, too, have lost interest .
