New Delhi, May 04:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Denmark on Tuesday as part of his Europe visit and used a millennial lingo, FOMO, to lure business leaders to invest in India. He said those who don’t invest in India will certainly miss out on a lot.

PM Modi said, “These days the term FOMO or ‘fear of missing out’ is gaining traction on social media. Looking at India’s reforms and investment opportunities, I can say that those who don’t invest in our nation will certainly miss out.”

On arrival, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was present to receive PM Modi at the Copenhagen airport. Here’s what followed.

1) PM Modi’s visit began with an official tour of Marienborg, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Denmark. There, the Danish PM showed the Pattachitra painting that PM Modi gifted her during her last India visit.

2) Both leaders then sat down for bilateral talks and Danish PM said Denmark would like to see India use its influence with Russian leader Vladimir Putin to put an end to the war in Ukraine.

3) Following the bilateral talks, PM Modi stated that India is hopeful of a swift conclusion of talks on the India-EU Free Trade Agreement. The statement came as India and the EU are set to hold an initial round of negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement in June with the aim of concluding an FTA by late 2023 or early 2024.

4) After a brief meet and greet with the Indian diaspora, PM Modi held talks with business leaders as part of India-Denmark business forum. PM Modi told business leaders to invest in India or experience FOMO. He said those who don’t invest in India even after seeing the reforms will certainly miss out on investment opportunities.

5) Later in the evening, PM Modi interacted with the Indian diaspora and said due to India’s vast diversity, people may have different food choices and languages but have the same Indian culture. He invoked ‘Life’ and said the focus should be on LIFE- Lifestyle For Environment, to tackle climate change. Our consumption should be determined by our needs, not the size of our pocket, he said.

PM Modi also shared a lighter moment with the diaspora as he tried his hand at dhol.

Before concluding his visit, PM Modi will meet Queen Margrethe II and will attend the 2nd India-Nordic Summit in Copenhagen. The summit will reportedly focus on subjects like post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change, innovation and technology, renewable energy, the evolving global security scenario and India-Nordic cooperation in the Arctic region.
