JK News Today special

Jammu, April 21:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke , as usual , with candour  and passion that the fight against Corona virus has to be won at all costs , and his message to the nation broadcast on  Tuesday evening that there is no escape from the  Covid Appropriate behaviour.

The most important point that he underlined  was the involvement of the youth and children in enforcing this protocol in their homes, localities and a little beyond  so that a comprehensive network is in place to keep corona out of bounds of their areas . A nation-wide network can help in stalling Corona and defeating it  comprehensively.

We, living in Jammu and Kashmir, have seen a  concerted campaign  against the virus by  the UT administration  headed by Lieutenant Governor  Manoj Sinha  in which the whole officialdom and the elected representatives of the district development councils have come forward to generate awareness about the covid appropriate behaviour –  wearing of masks , sanitization and  social distancing . This is what fits into the appeal that Prime Minister  made to the people not to step out of their homes unless it is very, very, necessary.

In Jammu and Kashmir , the PM’s appeal and  measures undertaken  by Manoj Sinha administration are very critical  for more than one reasons.  This Union Territory  sits on top of the map of the country  and its typical situation  spanned over 30 plus years  has drawn international attention to it . That is for the historical reasons .

But with the Corona virus that hit J&K like  the rest of the country  in 2020 has caused huge damage. Kashmir’s USP is its beauty and tourism , and now several measures were underway to get the tourists to the Valley and  revive its economy . These steps had started yielding results as the tourists footfall started during the winters and  in spring had many more coming . Many more were waiting online for their bookings in hotels . Film units had started  filming and planning more films all across the UT.

The  virus that has struck with its second wave  is severe in. nature .There is a lurking fear that it may slow the progress that has been made in these sectors so far.

However,  what keeps the hope and promise alive is the unyielding spirit  of keeping the things afloat . The administration has taken necessary steps  to move on –   it has taken decisions with extreme care , in which thrust is on saving lives and also keep the economy moving.

These measures gel with the premise of fight against the pandemic   set up by PM.
