Ahead of the winter  and mssive plans of  Pakistan army and the subversive elements within the Valley to raise the level of militancy,   the Indian army and  Jammu and Kashmir police have  decided to form a robust strategy to defeat the designs of the inmical external and internal forces.

This was decided in a core group meeting attended among others by the 15 corps commander  Lt. Gen. J S Sandhu, and Director General of Police ( DGP) K . Rajendra Kumar .  The meeting deliberated on the pattern of threats that surfaced in 2016, fidayeen attacks , ambushes  and the deadly five-month –long unrest that  held out a severe challenfge to the security forces.

The  old and new challenges were discussed in detail , sources said. There was a particular reference to the  extraordinary situations  that the forces faced during the five-month –long mass  violent agitation and the role played by terroirists and Pakistan since July . Now, new threats are  being stirred to  increase the level of infiltration  as also  to encourage the rebirth of the internal militancy and unrest

The Core Group Kashmir met today at Badami Bagh Cantonment to review the overall situation and to draw out the security strategy for the winters., an official release of the  Chinar Medi Corps said .

The meeting was co-chaired by Lt Gen J S Sandhu, GOC Chinar Corps and Security Advisor and Mr K Rajender Kumar, Director General, J&K Police and attended by top officials of all the constituents of the Core Group including civil administration and security agencies.

Addressing the members and the other officials in attendance, the Corps Commander complimented the members and the officials of the Core Group for the high level of synergy amongst all the agencies in addressing the security concerns of Kashmir.

During his address, the DG Police, expressed similar sentiments and elaborated on the key security initiatives that have been put into place to manage the law and order situation in the Valley. The members deliberated upon various issues to evolve a comprehensive strategy to respond to the various external and internal security challenges. Plans for maintaining a robust counter infiltration and counter terrorism grid were discussed.
