Cadet Utkarsh Pandey , a class VII student of Sainik School Nagrota qualified to represent Jammu and Kashmir state in the prestigious National level Painting Competition -2016 to be organised by NHPC on Energy Conservation  by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India on 5th December 2016 at New Delhi.

Out of the four cadets who represented the school in two different categories in the state level competition held at University of Jammu, Cadet Utkarsh Pandey stood first in Category A and won a cash prize of Rs 20,000/-   and Cadet Ayush Pratap Singh won the consolation prize of Rs 7,000/- in the same category. Cadet Deep Uday Singh of Class VIII won the Third prize Rs 12,000/- in Category B.

Col Kapil Dev Koushal, Principal, Sainik School Nagrota lauded the cadets and Mr RS Dayal (Art Master) for this remarkable achievement and mentioned that the main objective of the national awareness campaign launched by Ministry of Power has been taken well by the school.

Besides imbibing the habit of conserving energy in daily life amongst cadets as an integral aspect of their grooming, the school has been the frontrunner in the state to introduce LED lightings in the dormitories as well as in all security points of the school in a phased manner.
