Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has announced that entire border with Pakistan will be sealed by December 2018 and a new concept of border security grid would be brought into effect.
The deadline would be adhered to in regard to sealing of the border, as he admitted that tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated .
He was speaking to media after reviewing the border security of the four border states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Punjab at Jaisalmer, Rajasthanon Friday. He disclosed that the border sealing had become a necessity because of the situation obtaining in the border states. Though he did not specify but the references to cross-border terrorism, drug trafficking from Pakistan were too clear.
The sealing of the border using all the technology and other methods would be completed by December 2016. “ There would be periodical monitoring to ensure that the project is completed as per the schedule.” The state governments would be provided with all the guidelines.”
Rajnath said that a border security grid is also going to take place, but did not offer any specifics on that.
